I haven't done a serious food post in a few months. My appetite (and my curiosity and energy -or whatever is the direct opposite of laziness) has shrunk from a construction worker's to an average Joe's. That and I've also chosen to spend most of my weekends at home trying to complete this list. But yay, now that it has been accomplished, maybe my social life could go back to regular programming... *comforting comforter snuggling fantasies (like me and the comforter)* ...or not.
But hey! I did not spend the first Friday of the year sulking in one corner of my room, listening to emo songs and imagining friends. I actually went out for dinner, and had a really long and interesting talk with a close friend. Trust me when I say really long and interesting, even if I really can't share it here as it is too personal. (Yes, I believe my life can be interesting sometimes.) But I can and will talk about dinner, which was at California Pizza Kitchen in Shang.
I sometimes fail at estimating serving sizes (especially if the most accurate a menu can get is 'personal' and 'family') and I've learned that the best way to avoid ordering too much is to, well, just ask the waiter. That being said, of course we went for a family-sized Cheeseburger Pizza (P445). It's got beef, onions, Mozzarella and American cheeses, tomatoes and lettuce tossed in "secret sauce". Around 10" inches, I think. I like it. The beef is flavorful and everything else works together. The dough is soft and chewy, and the serving just enough for two.
We also ordered a personal-sized Spaghettini Vongole. It's got clams, shrimp, calamari, and zucchini "in white wine and broth, tossed with spaghettini and basil". It sounds expensive, I know, but not really. Not really something I'd normally go for, re:white wine and broth, but the shrimps were tempting. And so next time, I'm gonna be a lot more careful in choosing my pasta - I'll be sticking to cream and tomato-based. Not saying it's bad though, it's alright. The noodles are "al dente" and the seafood is well-done. It's just the whole wine thing does not work for me.
